Why Japanese tiles
Kiln formed, not printed
Surface variation is created during firing, not applied afterwards. Each tile develops naturally in the kiln.
Fired above 1200°C
Extended high-temperature firing produces a dense ceramic body with depth, strength and long-term stability.
Natural glaze variation
Differences in heat, atmosphere and glaze thickness create tonal variation across each tile and across the installation.
