About INAX

INAX produces Japanese porcelain tiles shaped by culture, tradition and a close observation of nature. Colour, texture and form are developed with sensitivity, creating surfaces that feel refined rather than decorative.

Rather than relying on printed effects, INAX tiles use ceramic bodies, glazes and high-temperature firing to create depth, variation and architectural character.

A heritage linked to Frank Lloyd Wright

INAX’s origins are closely connected to the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Hatsunojo Ina was engaged to produce decorative tiles for the project, establishing a foundation of ceramic expertise that continues today.

This collaboration represents a rare intersection of Japanese craftsmanship and modern architectural ambition.

Japanese tiles are kiln formed, not simply pattern printed.

The surface of each tile is created through clay body, glaze and kiln atmosphere. This produces real variation and depth, rather than a flat decorative print.

INAX Japanese tiles for architectural interiors

INAX Japanese porcelain tiles are designed for interior wall applications across hospitality, retail and residential projects. Made in Japan using high-temperature kiln firing, each tile develops natural variation in tone, texture and glaze.

Unlike printed tiles, INAX surfaces are formed through the interaction of ceramic body and glaze during firing, creating depth, richness and material authenticity. This process results in tiles that respond to light and shadow, making them particularly suited to architectural interiors.

INAX collections include small-format, textured and glazed porcelain tiles used for feature walls, bathrooms, kitchens and commercial spaces. Their proportions and surface variation allow designers to create refined, continuous wall finishes with subtle movement and depth.
