Material study
Close study of glaze, depth and surface variation in Japanese porcelain tiles.
Japanese porcelain tiles are defined by material depth, glaze variation and architectural application.
Why Japanese tiles
Kiln formed, not printed
Surface variation is created during firing, not applied afterwards. Each tile develops naturally in the kiln.
Fired above 1200°C
Extended high-temperature firing produces a dense ceramic body with depth, strength and long-term stability.
Natural glaze variation
Differences in heat, atmosphere and glaze thickness create tonal variation across each tile and across the installation.
Defined by material depth, glaze variation and architectural application.
Japanese porcelain tile collections
Select and order samples to review colour, glaze variation and surface in detail.
