A Dark Ceramic Field

Yuki Border extends across the main wall from the basin to the ceiling, establishing a continuous architectural surface rather than a limited splashback. The elongated tile is set vertically, reinforcing the height of the room and drawing the eye through the full wall composition.

The Speckled Black glaze moves between near-black and softer charcoal as it catches light. These small shifts remain visible within the repeated grid, giving depth to an otherwise restrained monochrome palette.

Contrast and Reflection

White sanitaryware and spherical wall lights sit sharply against the dark ceramic. Brushed brass fittings introduce a warmer note, while the asymmetric mirror interrupts the regular tile field with a softer curved form.

Daylight from the retained window is reflected across the glaze and mirror, balancing the darker finish. Planting and patterned textiles add further contrast without competing with the clarity of the wall.

Material and Proportion

The project shows how a dark tile can define a compact bathroom without making it feel enclosed. The narrow module, vertical alignment and reflective glaze keep the surface active, while the limited material palette gives the room a strong and coherent identity.
