Genuine Bali Green Sukabumi Natural Stone
While not a Japanese tile, Bali Green Sukabumi is an exceptional natural stone that we know well and believe deserves a place in the Mittsu collection.
Also known as Green Sukabumi or Bali Stone, it is quarried in the Sukabumi region of West Java, Indonesia. Its naturally varied green surface changes character beneath water, revealing shades of green, turquoise and blue as the light and water depth change. This creates the tranquil appearance associated with the swimming pools of Bali’s luxury villas and resorts.
Authenticity and Quality Matter
Not everything marketed as Sukabumi offers the same qualities.
Ceramic imitations cannot reproduce the depth, natural variation or changing appearance of genuine Sukabumi stone. Natural Sukabumi also varies considerably in grade. Poorly selected stone may be inconsistent in colour, thickness or dimensions, while inaccurate cutting can make installation unnecessarily slow and leave the finished surface difficult to align.
Our Bali Green Sukabumi is genuine natural stone, carefully selected for quality and accurately cut. This gives the installer a more consistent material to work with and provides a better foundation for a refined finished pool, spa or water feature.
The listed tile measures 10 × 10 × 1 cm and has a sawn finish. Other sizes, thicknesses and finishes are available for larger residential, hospitality and commercial projects.
As a natural material, variations in colour, texture and mineral markings should be expected. These differences are part of its character and contribute to the distinctive appearance of the finished surface.
Professional installation is essential, including appropriate substrate preparation, adhesives, sealing and ongoing pool-water management.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Bali Green Sukabumi?
Bali Green Sukabumi is a genuine natural green stone used primarily for swimming pools, spas and water features. It is also commonly known as Green Sukabumi or Bali Stone.
Does Green Sukabumi come from Bali?
No. Despite its close association with Balinese architecture and pool design, authentic Green Sukabumi is quarried in the Sukabumi region of West Java, Indonesia.
Are ceramic Sukabumi tiles the same material?
No. Ceramic products made to resemble Sukabumi are manufactured imitations rather than natural stone. They cannot reproduce the natural variation, depth and changing appearance of genuine Sukabumi beneath water.
Why does the quality of natural Sukabumi vary?
Natural stone varies according to the quality of the raw material, the area from which it is quarried and the accuracy of its processing. Lower-grade stone may show excessive inconsistencies, while inaccurate thickness and cutting can make installation more difficult and time-consuming.
Why is Green Sukabumi used in swimming pools?
The stone is valued for its natural green colour, textured surface and the way its appearance changes beneath water. It creates the tropical blue-green effect seen in many luxury pools across Bali, the Maldives and Southeast Asia.
Green Sukabumi also naturally contains zeolite minerals. Normal pool filtration, water treatment and maintenance remain essential.
Is every Green Sukabumi tile the same colour?
No. Sukabumi is a natural material, so variations in colour, tone, texture and mineral markings should be expected. These differences are part of its character and help create a natural-looking pool surface.
We recommend reviewing a sample before placing an order.
What size is available?
The stocked tile measures 10 × 10 × 1 cm and has a sawn finish. Other sizes, thicknesses and finishes can be produced on request.
Is Green Sukabumi stocked in Dubai?
Yes. Good stocks of the listed 10 × 10 × 1 cm tile are currently available from our UAE warehouse at the sale price.
Other sizes, finishes and quantities can be supplied to order from Indonesia.
What is the minimum order?
For material supplied to order from Indonesia, the minimum order is 80 m². Please contact us to discuss requirements for locally stocked material.
How long does delivery to the UAE take?
Locally stocked material is available without the usual production and international shipping lead time.
Orders supplied from Indonesia can take up to nine weeks to reach the UAE. We recommend confirming availability and lead times before finalising your project programme.
Can I order a sample?
Yes. A sample can be ordered from this page to assess the stone’s natural colour, texture and variation before specifying.
Can Green Sukabumi be used outside the UAE?
Yes. We can supply Bali Green Sukabumi for international residential, hospitality and commercial projects. Shipping options and lead times depend on the project location and order quantity.
Mittsu operates a structured supply model based on local stock, Japanese stock and samples.

For project-specific advice, please contact Mittsu Japanese Tiles.
Authentic Japanese ceramic tiles for architectural and interior design projects.
Mittsu specialises in tiles made in Japan, selected for their surface depth, natural glaze variation and architectural character.
Unlike mass-produced alternatives, these tiles are not defined by printed patterns. Their colour and texture are created during firing in the kiln, producing subtle variation across the surface once installed.
Choosing a tile
Japanese tiles are typically selected for their material quality rather than a fixed visual pattern.
Variation between tiles is part of the character. Across a wall, this creates depth and movement rather than repetition.
Collections can be explored online, but most projects benefit from reviewing physical samples before final selection.
Samples
Samples allow colour, glaze movement and surface texture to be evaluated under real lighting conditions.
They are ordered directly through product pages using the sample option for each tile.
For professional projects, the Specifier Program provides access to complimentary samples and technical resources.
Availability and supply
Tiles may be supplied from our stock in the UK, Europe, UAE and Japan, or produced to order depending on the collection and project requirements.
Lead times vary accordingly and should be considered during the design stage where tiles form part of the architectural concept.
Working with Mittsu
Mittsu works directly with architects, interior designers and private clients across residential, hospitality and commercial projects.
